The folks over at Cool Hunting lives up to their name and can always compile what’s best. This time around, in celebration of the iPhone 4 and its updated five megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Cool Hunting has compiled some of the key iPhone Camera Applications and Accessories one cannot miss out on to maximize the fun times on the gadget. Some of the key ones include Camera Plus Pro, which comes with a range of tools such as anti-shake, self timer and rapid-fire shooting; the True HDR which allows one to adjust the lighting and exposure even if the iPhone 4 does not allow one to adjust aperture and shutter speed; and the 360 Panorama, whose name speaks for itself and eliminates the user’s need to stitch pictures together. Okay, at one point or another during the last 4 years, we have seen this rumor take on more “supposed resurrections” than Elvis himself. So why is this latest rumor more credible than others? First, its from a pretty reliable media source, Bloomberg Television, and of all things, a business news outlet with a huge influence on how the market performs, day in and day out. Second, the information came from Ashok Kumar, a senior technology analyst from Rodman & Renshaw, and not some chat rooms or forums. Third, several business reports, included on from Goldman Sachs, have indicated the same. Still not convinced?
During a brief telephone conversation on TV, the analyst and Bloomberg anchors itemized several factors on Apple’s move from the sole carrier format, that would be AT&T, to both AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Here is the breakdown:
- The market share of Apple iPhone has hit its peak with AT&T and needs “greener pasture” to graze on
- With the increase in popularity of Android phones, Apple is making a strategic move to slow down its encroachment.
- The analyst, who confirmed with 2 unnamed inside sources, mentioned Apple recently signed up Taiwanese tech outsource firm, ASUSTek’s Pegatron Division, to produce the CDMA variant of the iPhone 4, a wireless protocol used by Verizon Wireless.
For those disgruntled AT&T customers, who stayed through the thick and thin. This could not have come at a better time. That is if it is true. No set dates yet, but most analysts have mentioned the launch on Verizon Wireless to be as early as January of 2011.
I have noticed in about the last 4-5 days, I can’t send out texts or get on the internet even though my display shows a strong network signal. After I power cycle my phone it will work fine for a day or so and than I get issues again. Hopefully this is just a temporary problem…..
Anyways here is some other stuff I have noticed with my phone lately. I am using it a lot more than my PC now. I can use the Facebook and AIM apps to communicate with my friends and see what they are up to. Also I have my email accounts setup on my phone, which makes it easier to check all my inbox’s and spam folders too. Keeping up with the news and checking other websites is no problem. The only things I can’t do are use Flash in the browser and download music from websites I frequent. The biggest issue I have is the battery life. The battery will die after about 4-5 hours of consistent use, which I guess is understandable when you are using navigation, aim, the browser, and texting at the same time. Hmmm maybe that is why Apple doesn’t like multi-tasking. They want your battery to last longer. But this will not be a problem once I order a backup battery for my phone. A user replaceable battery is nice to have on a smartphone.
One more thing I wanted to talk about is an article I saw on Gizmodo today. It is titled The Nexus One is A Total Sales Flop. I know some people that have needed a new phone lately and bought a Droid which is still a real good phone but in my thoughts not as great as the Nexus One. I guess when you really need to have a new phone, why wait for shipping when you can get it right there at the store. The only advertising I have seen for the Nexus One is online on Google sites. I guess you can say the Nexus One is a sales flop but this is Google’s first real step into the mobile phone competition. I see them coming out stronger when they start releasing the Nexus One on AT&T, Verizon, and the Sprint networks. A lot of people are also waiting for the next generation of iPhone to come out before they invest their money into a new phone plus 2year contract. I was one of those but I really really needed a new phone in January but did not want to spend the money on a phone that I will use for only a couple months than try to sell for a loss. Than spend more money in June on another new phone.
This will be my first of hopefully many chapters on the Google Nexus One.
I purchased my phone within a week of it being released to the public and it has been a great experience so far with it.
So just to start off with something.
Here is a list of things I like about this phone over the month I have owned it; the voice quality, screen brightness, responsiveness, multi-tasking, ease of use, and the multi-touch update. I’ll be going more in depth on this list over the next few weeks and will also add some negatives since nothing is perfect.
Since this is my first post, I just wanted to keep it short and simple to kick off the nexus one chronicles.

If anyone would like me to blog about anything specifically about the nexus one, just leave me a comment.
