Fresh Celeb: Kanye West Horus Chain & Pyramid Ring

Kanye West made his return to center stage last night as he opened up the 2010 BET Awards Show in Los Angeles. The 33-year old producer turned rapper is getting ready to release his fifth studio album entitled, Good Ass Job, which is scheduled for a tentative release in the coming months. West’s return did not come without a bit of style and flair as he performed his song “Power” while wearing an over sized Horus Chain and an over sized Pyramid Ring. Take a closer look at the chain and ring along with more pictures from his performance after the jump…

The Internet Cool Club Reacts to Kanye’s ‘Power’

This is something that I came across which actually holds ample amounts of validity towards the overall reaction to Kanye West’s new joint….Big-ups to TSS for doing the damn thing!

These things are always fun to take part in and to read. Complex called in the Hip-Hop’s tastemakers to wax poetic regarding their initial reaction to Kanye’s “Power.” The first time this group convened it was for Eminem’s “Not Afraid” and the reactions were more mixed. But for this one, I think the overall response looks to be fairly positive across the board.

After I posted here on TSS, my mind was already made up. I think I threw my words together after two spins, already deeming the song worthy of a spot on the playlist. Also, I wanted to keep the response an honest freestyle first reaction, period.

”I just needed time alone with my own thoughts, Got treasures in my mind but couldn’t open up my own vaults.’—I love my Gemini brother because he encompasses all that we are. Our duality. The ability to be extroverted and introverted at the drop of a hat. Funny, yet serious. The same exuberance and emotion that ultimately led to his self-sanctioned sabbatical are the same characteristics that make this song work. He injects a sense of humor into his words and commands the song’s cadence, melding words that others might not be able to fit into a line. Above all, I tend to believe the rhymes he spits to be honest and true because he’s always showed us that side of his Gem. A good first showing for Good Ass Job.”

Kanye West feat. Dwele – Power

Kanye West has been in hibernation, but he just burst out with his new singe–”Power.” The track samples King Crimson’s “21st Centry Schizoid Man,”–a title that seems well-suited for Kanye’s streaky reputation. There are moments when he’s on top of the world, while at other times he’s the butt of jokes and even presidential derision. There’s no denying his talent, though, as this new single flexes a style and structure that is 100% Kanye. True to autobiographical form, he addresses the SNL cast, his bouts with drinking, his ego, and his isolation. If this is a preview of what the new album’s innovation, then some may soon forget his public pitfalls.

The man behind the boards on Kanye’s new single talks with MTV about how the record came about.

“The way it came together, I work with Rhymefest,” S1 told MTV News about the song, referring to another Chicago MC. “I did like four joints on his album. And one day, out the blue, I got a text from Rhymefest that said, ‘Kanye is loving your stuff, he said he’s about to change your life.’ Two days later, I got an e-mail that said my flight to Hawaii [where West recorded much of the album] leaves in three hours! So I was on a flight, and it just happened like that. I went down and stayed for like two weeks, banged out some joints.

“The ‘Power’ joint that we did, it was actually a track that I already made and gave to Rhymefest, and he just so happened to play it for Kanye in the studio and he loved it. So when I got out to Hawaii, Kanye had already recorded to it.”

“A month later, S1 returned to Hawaii and heard “Power” again, this time with more “polish” added by ‘Ye, who co-produced the song. However, S1 picked the sample that drives the record: a snippet of British progressive rock band King Crimson’s “21st Century Schizoid Man.”

ABDC5 + Kanye Diss = ROFL x LMFAO

Alright, I really haven’t been a fan of America’s Best Dance Crew since Quest Crew won the competition about 2 years ago. Thanks to channel surfing on a normal Thursday night I stumbled across the West Coast Regionals for ABDC. So I take it they change the format to gain ratings since I assumes they’re tanking due to the over saturation of the same dance styles year in and year out….SMH!

This episode had a West Coast group called “Poreotix”, which is a hybrid word which fuses Popping, Choreography, and Robotics, and they danced to Taylor Swifts Love Story. I was so close to changing the channel, but I had this weird inkling to tune in. I so glad I did!

The thing to watch for is the Kanye West reference they used, which made me crack up so hard!
