Rick Ross Happy About Maybach’s Demise

When it was announced late last year that the uber-luxury Maybach car brand would be discontinuing, many hip hop fans had to wonder what Miami rap star Rick Ross thought of the news. He is, after all, the man behind Maybach Music Group and has long been visually-affiliated with the famous car.
But Rozay says no more Maybachs is a good thing.
“I think, just that level of luxury is just inspiration for people who started, like myself, who just looked and fantasized,” Ross said in an interview. “I look at it as it makes the brand even more exclusive now. I think the cars are going to become even more expensive now, so everybody who has one, hold on to it for a little while. … When we say Maybach Music, it’s not about the car, it’s just about the level of quality and the time that we put into the sound and that was just a way to express it where people could really understand it,” he said. “We done got a lot of love, so shout out to everybody that support double M-G.”
The Hundreds x New Era “RSWD” Pop-Up Shop Opening

It is hard to believe it has already been five years since The Hundreds’ Los Angeles store opened its door. Even more notable is the rapid expansion of the label into worldwide recognition within the relatively short window of time. To properly observe the anniversary, The Hundreds and New Era are opening a pop-up shop at 7907 Rosewood Ave, right next door to the original location. The store is befittingly adorned in handsome Rosewood and is only open for the month of February. An extremely limited commemorative line of “RSWD” sneakers, New Era caps, and softgoods created for the occasion, will be sold exclusively in-store only. If you can’t make it to 7907 Rosewood to help celebrate, take a trip down memory lane instead, with stories from some of the more prominent faces of The Hundreds’ Los Angeles community.

The result, however, couldn’t be more different. A testament to the age old saying of “don’t judge a book by its cover”, this demonstration was part of this month’s Dubai 24 Hour endurance race where the Juke-R was the official pace car. The race was set against the backdrop of Dubai International Marine Club, where an impromptu raceway was set up for the challenge. Though many were skeptical at first, the little Juke-R demonstrated a clear dominance right at the first corner, thanks to its smaller footprint, light weight, and a wildly powerful 485-horsepower engine taken from Nissan GT-R. All enable the Nissan Juke-R to achieve 0 to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds. Maybe now Nissan execs will give the green light to put the Juke-R into production.
Eric Haze | The Imperfect Star for Heineken
